The Amityville Horror, 2005

I've never seen The Amityville Horror and my husband acted like I had just cursed everything that he believes. I own this movie and still have never watched it. It was awesome. I am a huge horror movie fan. The blood, the guts, the screams, and the demonic nature of things...I'm all about that.

Ryan Reynolds plays George Lutz, a contractor that buys a house with his new wife Kathy (Melissa George). Kathy has widowed and left with three children that George is still trying to win over. They come across this "once in a lifetime opportunity" fixer up home. Everything seems to be going right for the couple, but things aren't as perfect as they seem.

Soon George starts to feel ill and begins to hear things. Many things lead to the drastic turn of events. The couple is aware of the murder that happened 1 year earlier in the house but refuses to let this deter them. George begins to act peculiar and threatens the oldest child. Kathy digs a little deeper into the murders when she begins to fear for her life as well as her children.

Director Andrew Douglas did an amazing job in this remake of the 1979 version of The Amityville Horror. I've never seen the original so I really can't compare. The story was sick, the effects were outstanding and, well, all around kick-ass. Wouldn't change a thing. Except maybe have every scene with Ryan Reynolds shirtless, instead of the 50% that he was.

5 out of 5 STARS
